It's time to put up your Christmas tree and Christmas decorations and properly get into the festive spirit! Before all that fun stuff happens here are some great ideas if you are up for making your own Christmas stockings and Christmas decorations. It's a great way to spend time with the kids and as a family and they will be something you can treasure for years to come and get out every year with a smile on your face with the thought that you and your family have made something special!

Here are some fun ideas for Christmas Stockings, whether using old jumpers or old quilts and tablecloths that have been laying around the house all year. There are some great designs and fun touches that you can add too!

Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer!

A great way to spend time with the kids this weekend on the lead up to Christmas is by creating these tasty and fun Rudolph biscuits. These are not your average Rudolph biscuits, these are gingerbread men turned upside down to create gorgeous reindeers' with lovely big antlers!

Have a go at creating fun and colourful antlers! See who can make the craziest design.

Ingredients for gingerbread biscuits:
  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 100g dark muscovado sugar
  • 4 tbsp golden syrup
  • 325g plain flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C and line baking trays with baking parchment.
  2. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a medium saucepan, stirring occasionally, then remove from the heat.
  3. Sieve the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ginger into a bowl and stir the melted ingredients into the dry ingredients to make a stiff dough.
  4. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and roll to a thickness of about 5mm. Dip biscuit cutters into flour before cutting the dough.
  5. Place the shapes onto the lined baking trays and bake, in batches, for 9-10 minutes until light golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven. While still warm, and using a skewer or chopstick, make any holes that you will need to hang up the biscuits with ribbon or to make a yuletide garland. If you are decorating your Christmas cake with gingerbread people, make the holes in their arms so that ribbon can be threaded through at a later stage.
  7. When completely cool, decorate with the icing.
Decorate with different coloured icing for Christmassy reindeers this December! Have Fun!

The Countdown to Christmas has begun!!

The countdown to Christmas has begun!! Ellie Ellie couldn’t be happier that the Christmas season is finally upon us. We can now celebrate the festive season with copious amounts of mince pies, Christmas songs on the radio and our favourite Christmas jumpers.

We will be celebrating #Christmasjumperday on the 20th of December and we hope you can join us in wearing your Christmas jumper at work, out shopping or whatever you may be doing!
In the countdown to Christmas this December Ellie Ellie will be bringing you a whole load of great gift ideas, perfect for that hard to buy for husband or fussy friend. We hope we can help you find the perfect gift that you can’t wait to give on Christmas day!
Here are some great advent calendar ideas that are a great alternative to chocolate ones.
This is a great idea and works brilliantly as a lovely decoration piece for above the mantel piece throughout December! Fill each bag with little treats or positive messages and a different family member can open a bag each day.

This idea is great if you favour neutral colours in the home. Each individual bag can contain a tasty treat to have each day and the tree twigs look great next to the fire place or in a hallway as well.

A favourite of Ellie Ellie’s this advent idea is great as you can put lovely little things in each little basket and even put a little something in for each family member.

If you love positive and motivational messages (we are a huge fan of inspirational quotes at Ellie Ellie HQ) then this chalkboard pocket advent calendar is a great idea. You can fill each pocket with a little saying or song lyrics to get you in the Christmas spirit in the morning!

Happy Christmas Countdown from Ellie Ellie!
