In the midst of the summer holidays, we're in the mood for a beachwear special this week! As always, we love to add a little retro inspiration, and this Chic Swimsuit in fifties-style polka dot print really does the trick! Congratulations Smarty Pants!

It's exam results season, and we've rustled up a tasty recipe using our chocolate smart beans so you can give your friend, sibling, daughter, son or neighbour a big congratulations on their results, and congratulate them on being such a smarty pants.

There are 8 ingredients in this simple recipe:
- 345g plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 pinch of salt
- 250g of softened butter
- 1 large beaten egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 300g smarties

1. Start by sifting all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, and then set aside
2. Cream together the butter and sugar, until you have a light and fluffy mix
3.Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract

4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients to form a stiff dough
5. Stir in half of your smarties

6. Roll the dough into little sized balls and place on a baking tray (we used baking sheet so they are easy to remove)
7. Once you have placed your balls of dough onto the tray, push in 3 or 4 chocolate smart beans into each cookie.

8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, keeping a good eye on them to make sure they don't burn
9. Allow to cool and serve!

We used this recipe from the Nigella community recipe page.

The Great British Idiom!

We are huge fans of the great British idiom at Ellie Ellie. If you're not sure what exactly an idiom is, it's a group of words that have a particular meaning together that is different from the meanings of each word on its own. You can see an example of a British idiom with our new Idiom jewellery collection!

'Apple of my eye' is a well known idiom referring to someone that you cherish above all others, making it perfect for a girlfriend or best friend.

'Love you to the moon and back' is a well known idiom to tell someone how much they mean to you. The huge distance described relates to the lengths of your love for them.

To give someone 'butterflies' is a well known saying related to falling in love and refers to the feeling in their stomach because a person makes them feel special.

'Birds of a feather, flock together' is a well known idiom linked to friendship. The saying refers to birds of the same species, keeping together and being strong, making these studs a great gift for your best friend.

'Every cloud has a silver lining' is a well known idiom related to optimism. It means that difficult times often lead to better times and that the dark clouds will pass, to reveal sunshine.

Do you have a favourite idiom?

One Year Ago Today!

This year we are taking the time to look back on the amazing milestones and events that happened in 2014! It was a year ago today that we received our copy of 'Shape Up Your Business' by Sophie Cornish and Holly Tucker, founders of Notonthehighstreet.com.

There was something brilliant about getting the physical copy as Danielle contributed some of her own business advice to the book, answering questions about how she has developed Ellie Ellie and grown it to what it is today! Some of our Notonthehighstreet friends are in it too!

Have you seen us in the book?

What milestones are you looking back on this year?

Fruity Summer Treat!

We got into the kitchen this week to muster up a refreshingly summer recipe, which is so simple to make anyone will be able to do it. Using just three ingredients we made some cool raspberry frozen yogurt. All you need to make this recipe is frozen fruit (of your choice, we've heard strawberry also tastes delicious), greek yogurt and a tiny amount of honey.

The method is also very simple too, simply measure out 250g of frozen fruit (make sure your fruit is frozen before making) and 250g of greek yogurt. Also get the honey out of the cupboard, you'll only need 1 tablespoon.

Put all the ingredients into a mixing bowl or food processor and whiz up for 30 seconds until all the ingredients are mixed.

Not only does it look delicious, it tastes delicious too, it's such a quick and easy little snack, lovely to watch Wimbledon this coming week or when it gets too hot outside!

What Summer recipe will you be making? Have you made any yummy recipes using fruit this Summer?

Recycle Week!

Now in its 12th year, we're right in the middle of Recycle Week! The theme this year is "Recycling around the home". Just having a think about the products you buy and have in your home is the first step to efficient recycling. You can always head over to Recycle Now and simply search for an item to find out how to dispose of it correctly, and if it can be recycled.

At Ellie Ellie, we fly the flag to re-design, re-cycle and re-love. Here are some of the easily recycled materials that are used to make some of our beautiful eco-friendly products!

Wool  - Our versatile Check Recycled Wool Blanket Rugs are made from recycled welsh wool, and have so many different uses, from picnics at the park to getting cosy in front of the fire at home. They are individually spun to create a variety of different designs, so there's a colour to suit everyone!

Glass - The UK currently recycles 50% of glass containers like jars and bottles - once they are crushed and melted, they're molded into brand new ones! We have a whole collection of recycled glassware for your home, including tumblers, mugs and milk bottles!

Plastic - One of the most used and popular materials. It's important we pop it all in our recycling bins to be sorted, shredded, and used again and again! Our Recycled Lunch Box and Jumbo Storage bags are made from recycled plastic, come in a range of prints, and fold flat for easy storing!

Be sure to take a look at Recycle Now's website to find out what you can recycle locally and at home, and help you achieve a sustainable lifestyle!
