Happy Neighbour Day!

Today is a day to celebrate your neighbours, European Neighbour Day is all about the celebration and the friendship you share with your neighbours.

As a huge fan of the humble postcard at Ellie Ellie, we are encouraging people to send their neighbours a postcard or letter this week, even if it just say Hello, how are you! Whether you know your neighbours really well, or you have just moved into a new home and don't know them at all, this is a great opportunity to get to know them and say a big hello!

Keri Smith is an illustrator that has created a great project called Everything is Connected, which includes a book of 50 postcards that send you on a quest to reanimate everyday life and connect with people, we are going to be using this book to send our postcards to our neighbours!

Be Happy!

We are ones for a celebration day at Ellie Ellie, and today is no different as we celebrate The International Day of Happiness! We are going to be thinking about all the things that make us happy today, including being part of the fantastic team here and getting to work in our beautiful Hove office!

Tens of thousands of people got involved last year on social media and quickly, over 13 million people has seen an authentic image of happiness from someone! This year will be no different, with thousands of people getting involved from all over Europe!

Valentine's Day Sweat Treats

Valentine's Day is a great day to celebrate love and happiness, with your other half, husband or close friends. It's also a great time to get into the kitchen and make some less than ordinary (probably heart shaped) food goodies. We've found some great ideas for valentine's snacks and breakfast ideas that can be easily made on the day!

These delicious looking skewers are simply made from strawberries, marshmallows and brownie pieces. 

These great looking eton mess skewers are made from pieces of shortbread, strawberries and whipped cream. 

Get different types of fruit and cut our heart shapes with a small cookie cutter to make colourful fruit skewers. 

For fried egg lovers, simply cut out a heart shape in some toast and pop it in the frying pan and fry an egg in the middle.

We're going nuts for enamel!

You may have seen on our Instagram that we did a brilliant summer shoot last month in the lovely Sussex countryside, where we included all our new traditional sports day games and recycled rug and our new enamel plates and bowls.

We are going nuts for enamel this summer, it is the perfect way to serve your food and nibbles at a picnic or bbq. Even if you just fancy eating outside one evening, enamel is hard wearing and can be used outside without the worry that it may smash if dropped. Our new enamel is cream with a red trim and is the perfect companion in your picnic hamper, it's extremely light and durable, and ideal for kids to use!

Ellie Ellie's Postcard Challenge!

We have been involved in something we think is quite spectacular at Ellie Ellie recently, and if you follow us on our social media channels you may have spotted what it is. We sent a postcard out at the beginning of the year in the hope that it would travel around on an adventure and meet as many of our friends as possible!

Our postcard for this challenge came from a very very interesting and creative book by the talented Keri Smith, who has written several bestselling books and is a creative genius! Her book 'Everything is connected' is where our lovely postcard came from and includes a pad of interesting and fun postcards that you can use to send to friends, strangers, neighbours or colleagues.

Our postcard (looking very clean and un creased at the beginning of his journey in the above picture) has so far visited 8 friendly people since it left us, and continues to travel around until it is full up! Hopefully he will get back to us safely when he is completely jam packed with conversation and questions from our friends!

New Years Eve Celebrations!

There are so many great ways to celebrate new year, whether you celebrate with friends, that special someone or with family!

A great way to celebrate is the fireworks at Embankment in London, presented by Vodaphone and the Mayor of London! Which is a great new year celebration that involves a massive arrangement of fireworks and a great crowd of people in the mood to celebrate!

Brighton Ice Rink!

Opening this weekend is a wonder of the South East, the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink in Brighton! Opening this Saturday, the 9^th of November, and running till the 19^th of January there is no excuse not to go and have a skate with family or friends! As well as the beautiful outdoor ice rink there is also a great restaurant next to the rink with a bar, perfect for a mulled wine!

'Re-design, Re-cycle, Re-love' are three very important words here at Ellie Ellie, and we want to share out motto with you and let you know what it means to us!

 

Re-design is taking something that's been unloved and giving it a new lease of life with a little Ellie Ellie TLC. We transform forgotten treasures into something new, current and loveable.

 

Many of us remember the hours we spent wrestling over board games with our siblings, or those party games with our school friends - our products capture all those joyful memories and allows us to look back with a smile.

 

The Re-cycle aspect of our motto means taking something that's destined for a landfill and turning it into something completely different, to be used and enjoyed by one and all!

 

Recycling is gradually becoming a part of everyday home life, which is great! We push the boundaries even further by encouraging recycled gifting to spread the eco-friendly message.

Here at Ellie Ellie the 'Re-Love' aspect of our motto means taking something from our childhoods, that we have forgotten and turning it into something innovative for all to love again. You know, things like old fashioned board games or those scrumptious retro sweets that used to be the highlight of your school days.

All those things you used to treasure, we jog your memory about and look back on them with nostalgic fondness in our products.

We all love a chilled, fruity glass of Pimms on a lovely hot day in the British summertime, so we thought a ‘Post about Pimms’ was a must at Ellie Ellie HQ, especially as we have been enjoying lovely weather recently.
