Happy Pick Strawberries Day!

We love these little red fruits that are bursting with sweetness - with cream, in frozen yogurt or on top of a home baked pie - they are too good to resist. Today celebrates not eating strawberries, but picking them! They are of course only available in certain times of the year, but that time is fast approaching!

Why not go out as a family and visit one of the many Pick Your Own Farms around the country this summer? It's a great activity for everyone to get involved in, and encourage the kids to get their five-a-day! Once you've picked biggest and juiciest strawberries, there are many ways to enjoy them - with ice cream, melted chocolate, or making your own ice lollies!

You can find your nearest Pick Your Own farm here.

Healthy Lollies!

We shared our scrumptious ice lolly recipe earlier in the summer and we can't get enough of the tasty fruity treat! If you didn't see the recipe before, take a look at our strawberry and yogurt lolly recipe! They were quick and easy to make and are perfect for the kids too!

We've found some other lovely looking lolly recipes that we can't wait to try, including these frozen berry & ginger nut yogurt pops, which would be great as a dinner party desert as well as a treat to cool off!

These tangerine and plum sorbets on a stick also look delicious and make a refreshing desert or snack (that's if the sun is shining!)

Have you made any fruity lollies this Summer?

Technology Free Time!

There is little time these days when technology, phones, social media and tablets don't get in the way of spending quality family time together. If you fancy some technology free time with your family there are so many activities you can do that doesn't involve documenting every step on social media.

You could introduce a technology free day each week, and a time for a technology free activity at the weekend too. With the summer here, the days are longer and warmer and there are endless opportunities of different activities in the countryside and city!

We're going nuts for enamel!

You may have seen on our Instagram that we did a brilliant summer shoot last month in the lovely Sussex countryside, where we included all our new traditional sports day games and recycled rug and our new enamel plates and bowls.

We are going nuts for enamel this summer, it is the perfect way to serve your food and nibbles at a picnic or bbq. Even if you just fancy eating outside one evening, enamel is hard wearing and can be used outside without the worry that it may smash if dropped. Our new enamel is cream with a red trim and is the perfect companion in your picnic hamper, it's extremely light and durable, and ideal for kids to use!

Here are some pictures from our summer photo shoot, and our new enamel plates and bowls!

What are you getting up to this summer?

Summer Ice Lollies!

There is nothing better on a hot summers day than digging into a scrumptious ice lolly! Although nipping down to the shops may seem easy to get your ice lolly fix, there are benefits from making your own. They will be cheaper, as it just requires fruit and a couple of other ingredients you probably have at home!

Here's a simple and easy recipe for strawberry ice lollies, they took about 15 minutes to make and then just needed to set in the freezer!

All you need is: 250g of strawberries, 100ml natural yogurt and 1 teaspoon of honey.

Simply:

1. Whizz up 250g of strawberries with a food processor,
(i used a hand blender which worked just as well)

 2. Mix in the natural yogurt and honey

3. Divide the mixture between your lolly moulds

4. Leave to set in the freezer for at least 4 hours and enjoy with your picnic or BBQ!

Add these patterned trousers from H&M for a great relaxed look.

Ellie Ellie Wears - Summer Brights

We are still in love with the summer time and the summer styles that come with the weather being slightly warmer, including bright colours which has been everywhere this season. Our outfit this week has been inspired by beautiful bright colours!

You can’t go wrong with a denim jacket this summer, which is a perfect companion for a summer dress or maxi dress. Team your denim with this yellow striped dress for the perfect combo! Wedges are also everywhere this summer and we thought we would embrace this with these lovely Kurt Geiger wedges which will brighten up any outfit and would also look perfect with a simple LBD. Add a lovely Ellie Ellie Dotty Tile Game Pendant Necklace to complete the look.
