Happy Halloween - Prepared to be spooked!

Happy Halloween!

We hope you are enjoying a spooky Halloween, filled with trick or treating, pumpkins and dressing up.

We did our very own pumpkin carving evening on Tuesday, which resulted in three very good pumpkins (if we do say so ourselves)

If you are stuck for something to do this weekend, head on down to Tulley's Farm in Crawley, West Sussex for their Halloween event, Spooktober Fest!

Spooktober Fest is the UK's No 1 Halloween family attraction and is jam packed full of activities, fun shows, excitement and haunted houses. Activities at the festival include a fancy dress competition, spooky trail and spook hunt, fireworks, horrid hayride and scary fun house! If you're planning on taking the children, don't worry, all the activities have a scare factor so you know exactly which activities to take them too.

For more information and tickets on the Spooktober Fest visit Tulley's Farm!

Spookify your home this Halloween!

We all enjoy getting our homes ready for the festive season, but first, Halloween is upon us next week and there is no better excuse to get out the spooky decorations and carved pumpkins.

Ellie Ellie has a great way to decorate your home this Halloween in a simple and very easy way! Our new honeycomb pumpkin is so easy to put on your window sill or hang by the fireplace. All you have to do is take the decoration out of the packaging and simply stretch out into the pumpkin shape, and stick together with the sticky tabs that are provided! Easy!

Our Halloween pumpkin garland is also super easy to create, simply pull out the string, which will stretch the garland out to make its pumpkin shapes!

What Halloween decoration ideas do you have?

Family Fun this Halloween

Lots of family fun can be had this Halloween, dressing up is such an exciting thing for the kids to get involved with, to picking what scary animal they want to be, to ideas about how they want their costume.

If your kids aren't into dressing up, or you fancy something a bit more simpler, these Halloween face masks are a brilliant way to dress up!

Give the kids an activity by making their own face masks, colouring in the mask and using string to make it fit around their heads. Our fun face masks are only a few of the endless possibilities. You could try a pumpkin face mask, ghost or witch!

The weather is getting colder and the nights are getting darker (sigh, summer is over), but that won't stop us wearing a short sleeved top (just maybe with a cardigan over the top)! This checked top from People Tree is perfect to go from day to night, and will look great teamed with these blue jeans from Oasis. If you fancy a bit more colour you could always wear a coloured jean too. Pumpkin Carving Crazy!

Did you know the Halloween holiday has not always been about dressing up and carving pumpkins, the holiday is actually based on an ancient Greek Celtic holiday know as Samhain which means summers end.

Pumpkin carving has become a well known symbol of Halloween on the 31st of October, with many people showing their carving skills by making intricate patterns on their pumpkins, as well as scary faces and shapes.

Here's a few AMAZING carved pumpkins... watch out for our Ellie Ellie pumpkin carving competition coming soon!

Have you carved your pumpkin this year?

For your Autumn Home!

Autumn is a great time to make some changes in your home, putting the cosy blankets back on the sofa and thinking about what you could add for a new season. Upcycling old pieces of furniture is an interesting way to add something new to your home, an old chest of drawers could be transformed into a new TV unit, or an old suitcase could become a bedside table, the possibilities are endless.

This table is made from a piece of tree trunk to create this unique table, perfect for Autumn.

This shelf unit has been made from old crates that would have otherwise been thrown away. If this one in particular is too big, you could create all sorts of sized shelves with the number of crates you have. Alternatively you could create one shelf from just one crate to add some rustic charm to your home this Autumn.

These coffee tables have been made from scrap pieces of wood, cleaned up and made into the tables they look as good as new. Make all kinds of different sized tables for a very Autumnal feel.

If you have a chest of drawers or drawer unit you are thinking of throwing away, think twice. These flower planters are made from old drawers, and could be painted any colour to go with the exterior of your home. If you have bigger draws indoor shelving could also be a great upcycling project!

The best of Summer!

There was a lot happening in the Summer months at Ellie Ellie, moving offices and a mammoth 13 mile midnight walk being only a couple of them. We thought we would take time to reflect on the  best bits of Summer in pictures!

We had great fun on our Summer photoshoot, where we prepared a yummy picnic and homemade lemonade to put in our recycled glass dispenser!

Our midnight walk was challenging at times, specially when the rain started when we were gearing up for our last 3 miles! A 4.30am finish was definitely worth it for the Martlets Hospice!

Being included in Notonthehighstreet.coms new book was a great achievement for Ellie Ellie this summer! As well as being selected to go on the Partner Panel at their annual Make Do & Meet Event!

The arrival of our Ellie Ellie aprons got everybody very excited, as well as posing for our staff photoshoot with our summer props!

Winning the Online Business Award at the Sussex Women of the Year Awards was a highlight of the summer!

What were the highlights of your summer?
