Ellie Ellie Wears: Goodwood Festival of Speed Style

Goodwood's Annual Festival Of Speed kicked off yesterday, with people flocking from all over to attend the biggest motoring garden party in the world. A mash up of cars and celebrities, the event holds a gleaming reputation as the Mecca for motor sport stars. We love this black and white check dress from Zara which definitely has tinges of the F1 flag. We love the bold and quirky print and when put with these turquoise office sandals it makes a perfect outfit for Spring/Summer activities (we don't know when Summer's meant to turn up either, but hey lets stay hopeful!) This week we've been inspired by the prospect of the bank holiday weekend in the sunshine. Whether you're off down the beach with the family or having a seaside dog walk this outfit will put you in good stead. 

These little yellow wellies are a great for a mooch in the countryside, or even on the school run on a rainy day! We are big fans of Joules, so we have another dollop of their Spring collection in our outfit this week! This striped tunic is simple, effortless but still looks amazing on. We've styled it with an Ellie Ellie Building Brick Ring, in red to add to that bright and on-trend colour palette!  Alphabet Bag's shopper is such good fun, a great size too for all the necessities (like a kindle and a nice bottle of lemonade!).

We don't know about you, but we are loving this weather. Finally, Spring has started to pull it's socks up. This week's Ellie Ellie Wears has been inspired by, Mr Blue Sky- that illusive chap who's been lying rather low of late, but like the prodigal son he's back and everyone's celebrating.

So we've taken the blue baton and ran with it- this little vintage inspired dress can be found at Get Cutie. Love it's femine pattern and ability to create that 50's hourglass figure. Nipped in at the waist, soft over the hips- it's bound to flatter most. Sling on a pair of these blue bow pumps to make it the perfect day time outfit, whether you're off out for a stroll along the pier or at a May bank holiday village fête.

We feel a tad guilty that we've added a cashmere scarf to this one, especially as it's our first post for May. But let's not kid ourselves. We're British. The weather can never make up it's mind and its best to always be prepped for anything from heat to hail.

Not many models have graced the cover of Vogue. Especially twice. Michelle Obama (wearing Reed Krakoff, of course!) is set to get her second bite of the cherry as she illuminates this April’s Vogue cover.
America’s first lady has been a solid rock to President Obama, making them arguably one of the biggest double acts of all time. People weren’t just voting for Barack; they also didn't want to lose Michelle's influence on the women of America, if not the world. A beacon of strong femininity, a women hungry for progress, a women not afraid in her own skin. Is MObama one of the best female orators of modern time?

Blue is the colour of the month (well technically aqua marine..) so we’ve pieced together this little number featuring the iconic Levi jeans, which with a bit of hunting you can find yourself an uber cool vintage pair. You can often find them hanging around in London’s Rokit store- “if you see ‘em grab ‘em” is our rule of thumb at Ellie Ellie HQ.

We love this oversized powder blue piece of knitwear from Topshop, works perfectly with the Levi’s stronger shade. For a finishing touch the Ted Baker shirt gives that little bit of glam, making this outfit perfect for a shopping trip or a casual evening drink down town.

As ever TK Maxx is a first port of call on the Red Nose Day fashion fix. Good old Stella McCartney has yet again brought a feel good collection of t-shirts to the high street to raise money for this incredible worldwide cause. Stella has an effortless way of designing easy to wear tongue-in-cheek fashion that the industry has fallen in love with, all the world over. 

The 2013 tees have been wholeheartedly manufactured in Africa. 100% of the cotton sourced from Fairtrade certified, organic cotton co-operatives in Mali, which is something that Ellie Ellie are in full favour of.  My personal fave features Marilyn Monroe- I’ve never seen  a women look hotter with a red nose and Harry Hill glasses, have you? The girl’s still got it.

We’ve paired the tee with a pair of Warehouse heavy black leggings, some Hollywood red platforms and Ellie Ellie’s very own Upcycled Building Brick Ring, for that finishing touch. 

Just a tad smitten with these shock red beasts from Topshop. LANIE Platform Wedges from Topshop are a concoction of the biggest shoe trends this season –bright and chunky. Working perfectly with the Marilyn tee to give that red a bit of pop, it’s almost criminal not to team them up. 

The Ellie Ellie ring, just adds to that childhood fun of the tee. Our rings are handmade from original LEGO pieces in our Brighton based HQ,really adding some strength to the ethical elements behind Stella’s Comic Relief collection.

If you’re really going all out, team with a warm red MAC lippy and an oversized tote t’boot.
