What to do with Dad!

There's only a couple of days to go til Fathers Day, so we've been having a look for the best activities to do with Dad to make it a memorable one!

You can't go wrong with spoiling him with good food - Sheffield Park in Uckfield, East Sussex has it all figured out. They're holding a Father's Day barbecue lunch in the tearoom garden, and thanks to the local microbrewery, there'll be a selection of beers and ciders to wash it all down with! There's no need to book, and you can take the whole family along. Find out more here.

For the car mad Dad, head to Woburn Abbey for the Father's Classic Day Out! From military, saloon, sports cars to motorcycles and live music from bygone eras (that he might remember!), it's a real treat. In return for any donation, the kids can treat their dad to a Dream Ride, where they can jump into a classic vehicle and be driven through the countryside!

If you're not feeling too adventurous this year, why not just treat Dad to a lunch in a local pub, go fishing, or bake your own scones for a delicious cream tea indoors? Whatever you decide, he's sure to be spoilt rotten!

What are you planning for Father's Day?

Crossing the teas project - Volunteer and visit!

It’s no secret that the British love a good cup of tea, but who ever though it was a fact worth exploring to the extent of an art project? From this month until June, ART;sync; a network of creative professionals, are building a collection of memories based purely on the concept of drinking tea.

Funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund, ART;sync have partnered up with several Brighton-based associations to bring us a fascinating study of the tradition that so many of us simply see as an every day part of life! From a cuppa and cake on an afternoon with friends to the celebrations during Iranian New Year, the project involves nine groups of people with varied cultures and backgrounds hosting their very own tea party. The stories captured will then be on display in Jubilee Library from 22nd June until 16th July 2015.  It's also a chance to see some beautiful and historical crockery from around the world, as well as the stories behind them!

Sound interesting? Good news! The organisation, whose vision is to "mainstream cultural diversity in the arts", is accepting volunteers to get involved right now!. They are on the lookout for Memory Collectors, Community Heritage Facilitators, and Photographic Assistants. So if you're handy with a camera, fancy gathering stories or just looking to find out more about the whole idea, head over to ART:sync to find out more!

Le Tour De France

The Tour de France kicks off tomorrow, with the annual bicycle race taking place primarily in France while also making appearances through nearby countries throughout July. Now in its 101th year, the Tour de France this year is made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,664 kilometres (Wow).

The exciting thing about this year is that the Tour starts in the UK tomorrow, from Leeds! We have got really into cycling this Summer at Ellie Ellie and are going to keep updated with the race to see how all the cyclists are getting on. Our bicycle recycled storage bag and lunch box bag have been really popular this season, with a lovely vintage bicycle print which we love and is great for storing your bicycle gear or lunch when your out for a cycle.

If you can get out and about this summer a family cycle ride is a great idea to get out into the countryside or seafront! Happy cycling!
